20 YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE

KEEPING OUR CITIES SAFE

EXPERIENCED & TRUSTED PUBLIC SAFETY EXPERT

Deputy Sheriff |  GWII Veteran | Educator | CEO | Humanitarian | Doctoral Candidate

I am a 15 year veteran of law enforcement, 8 year member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and I proudly serve the City of West Hollywood. I completed my Executive Master of Leadership at the University of Southern California (USC) and I hold a certificate in public management from the USC Price School of Public Policy. Additionally, I have served as an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Phoenix.

Prior to becoming a law enforcement officer, I served 8 years in the United States Navy as an Air Traffic Controller, achieving the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class.  I played an active role in advocating for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT) and with its passage, I am currently a Staff Sergeant in the California State Military Reserves (CSMR) and I'm in the process of gaining a direct commission as an Intelligence Officer in the Unites States Navy Reserves.

Family and home have always been the most important things to me. After 19 years of dedicated public service, I am bringing my passion, experience and leadership to the table with a committed focus to work with leaders, community members and our business community to enact common sense solutions to law enforcement issues that face our nation.

My top priorities are public safety and implementing comprehensive strategies/policies to address the needs of our communities.  The key issues I am focused on include: creating a greater sense of community and transparency through civic engagement and ensuring Government accountability.  Additionally, I support strategies to address affordable housing options, social services and homelessness- especially for vulnerable groups including seniors, LGBT youth and veterans.

As I offer my leadership, service and skills to build a safer, more vibrant and exciting community, I hope to inspire and enlist your help.  I look forward to listening to your ideas and working with you to keep our Nation moving forward!

Thank you for letting me be of service.

Best regards,

Christopher T. Landavazo, EML

"In my continued quest to fight for civil and human rights, peace and equality, I have chosen to purse a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership at Brandman University.  I have given much thought to the rigors of this program and my desire to become a recognized law enforcement expert on race relations, equity within the criminal justice system.   Through my work I seek to develop programs to address the emergent needs of the United States Government to address the highly volatile issues of race, race relations and police abuse of police powers.

I will accomplish these goals by partnering with existing professionals who are working on restorative justice initiatives that have lacked law enforcement involvement.  The goal will be to sharply focus on causation factors of imprisonment such as poverty, lack of education and bias policing practices. The most important issue facing our democracy is policing in America

Today, the fabric of the “Great Experiment” is being torn a part by perceived and real divides in racial equity and treatment of minorities by the American Criminal Justice System.   Our ability to maintain a peaceful society will be predicated on the manner in which we address these great divides in perceived and real racial inequalities.

THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY...

Although I have led projects that have had a global impact, family and home have always been the most important things to me; West Hollywood is my home. After 20 years of dedicated public service, I am bringing my passion, experience and leadership to the table with a committed focus to uphold the progressive values and creative aspects of our nation and to incorporate new ideas, transparency and a fresh perspective to policing policy, practice and race relations. I am dedicated to enhancing civic engagement and community partnerships.
